I think most moms can agree there comes a moment in your life when you stop and think, “Wow, I feel just like my mother.” I was hanging clothes up on the line… weeding the garden… picking up kid crap… telling one kid to stop fighting with your sister … “No, we just ate 15 minutes ago, you can’t have a snack”… “Ok, who left the door open?” … “Let the dog out”… “You can’t go in the house wet”… Then, as I was canning some tomatoes, it was at that moment, I ssssssssoooooooooo felt like my mother. I can remember my mother doing the exact same thing when I was growing up. However, I know she was not trying to knit a few rows in between all of that!
I have been doing a TON of knitting despite me not blogging about it much. 2008 still seems to be the year of the washcloths! I have done 28 of them. I can admit it. I have a dishcloth addiction! I wonder if I could find a support group for that. However, knowing the type of people knitters are, we are known for enabling each other. I have also been stash busting, and trying to stay on a strict yarn diet. Cataloging all my yarn in Ravelry really helps! Not to mention, Ravelry is an addiction in and of itself. It’s the Facebook for knitters!
I am finally putting a use to all those canning jars I have. (Jars are another one of my addictions, but I won’t admit to it. So therefore, I am in denial.) I have a very good “green thumb.” I have jars filled with plants above my kitchen cabinets, and decided to really give canning a good effort. I have even impressed myself with my ability. My cupboards are filled with salsa, cucumber relish, and the most yummy tomato sauce concoction. Next week I want to do pickles to have for the winter. My crock pickles ROCK. I would love to share that recipe with you, but it is top secret! I was sworn to secrecy when I got it from my friend, Lori. I could tell you, but then I would have to kill you!!!!! Someday, when one of the kids gets a garden, I will pass it down to them, or they will have to visit mom for crock pickles.
Here is my latest finished socks from Socks Soar on Two Needlesusing Fleece Artist Basic Merino Sock Yarn - Hot Pink
My other socks I am working on from Vogue Knitting - using Knit Picks Risata (which is really a pain in the ducking butt to work with)
Then I made this really cool monkey dishcloth for Em's 12th Birthday.
Have a great Labor Day Weekend!
